The Turn of the Screw
MRP ₹199
'He was there or was not there: not there if I didn't see him.'
A young governess arrives at Bly, a remote country house, to care for two orphaned children, Miles and Flora—beautiful, uncannily well-behaved, and not alone.
Two figures begin appearing at windows and across the grounds—figures she comes to identify as the estate's former valet and governess, both dead, both known in life for their corrupting influence on the children. Convinced that the children are being called back to something unspeakable, the governess sets out to save them.
A landmark of psychological horror by Henry James, The Turn of the Screw never tells us whether the ghosts at Bly are real or imagined. Almost 125 years on, that refusal remains the story's most unsettling horror.
